So we have this old videocon refrigerator for last so so many years... I remember Pa had purchased this on one of my birthdays :)
It's still very very functional but definitely looks Old... We could buy a new one for sure but do we really need it!!
So thought I should do something to change the look...
First thought was to get it re-painted... Actually I thought I would paint it myself. After some research , I really liked the idea of chalk board paint. But perhaps it would be too bold for our home :) so dropped that idea for now... But definitely want to try it some other time.
Then thought of self adhesive paper or the contact paper... But unfortunately they don't sell it here in local market.
While searching for contact papers... I found different types of wall papers... Tried to get some self adhesive ones... But again could not find those here... So what I could find was the normal water proof wall paper and decided to give this a try.
So here is what I needed:
- wall paper (one roll. Although We don't need that much but they sell the complete roll)
- fevicol 505 adhesive
- brush
- Scissors
- paper knife
- sponge
- measuring tape.
So as always... I could not wait to start...and as soon as I was back from market I started... ;)
Step 1: Clean the surface.
Step 2: Take all measurements.
Step 3: Cut the wall paper in appropriate size. It's better to leave one inch margin on each side that can be cut later after sticking, using a paper knife.
Step 4: Apply the adhesive to the wall paper. ( I had first tried to put the adhesive on refrigerator surface but it was a big mess, resulted in too many bubbles and had to remove the paper using fabric softener... Too much extra time and work)
Step 5: Place the paper on refrigerator very slowly. And then using a sponge r
Press properly and remove all bubbles to get a smooth finish.
It's not as easy as it sounds ;) but the result was worth it :)
